ITIL Consulting and Service Management

The most widely utilized IT best practices include the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). ITIL has evolved from a recommended best practice to a global industry standard for aligning IT Services with business requirements. ITIL drives business value by helping IT organizations share common terminology and integrated IT service management processes across the business.

TalenTek has more than 20 years of combined ITIL service management process design and implementation experience. We offer a variety of ITIL services including on demand ITIL consulting, assessments and education. Our ITIL assessment helps organizations quantify their current IT maturity and establish baselines for improvements. We also help develop and stabilize process improvements in your organization and help facilitate and manage the cultural shifts during their adoption.

Lean principles come from the Japanese manufacturing industry. The term was first coined by John Krafcik in a Fall 1988 article, "Triumph of the Lean Production System," published in the Sloan Management Review and based on his master's thesis at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Krafcik had been a quality engineer in the Toyota-GM NUMMI joint venture in California before coming to MIT for MBA studies.

Lean manufacturing or lean production, often simply, "Lean," is a production practice that considers the expenditure of resources for any goal other than the creation of value for the end customer to be wasteful, and thus a target for elimination. Working from the perspective of the customer who consumes a product or service, "value" is defined as any action or process that a customer would be willing to pay for.

Our lean consultants have global reputations as an expert in the implementation of Lean and have been supporting companies outside of the Toyota for years in many countries and many industries. At TalenTek our lean practitioners are part of a global network of fellow Toyota TPS veterans.

TalenTek levergages its network of former Toyota TPS practitioners and collegiate alumni to support businesses in many industries across the world. This ensures a consistent level of aptitude and success in implementing lean across our client base. This network sets TalenTek apart from other consulting companies allowing TalenTek to assign the right consultant for the right purpose.

Six Sigma

Six Sigma is a business improvement methodology. Its main objective is to implement a vigorous process to systematically eliminate defects and inefficiency. Motorola originally developed it in the early 1980s. Its proficiency has caused it to become extremely popular in many corporate and small business environments around the world.

Six Sigma's main purpose is to deliver high performance, value, and reliability to the customer. It is regarded and used around the world as one of the major themes for TQM (Total Quality Management). Bill Smith at Motorola developed Six Sigma in the early 1980 2s. It was originally designed as a way to measure defects and to improve overall quality. While originally developed for quality control, Six Sigma is used in many different ways. These uses include improving communications with customers, employees, and shareholders and improving the total process of interaction, communication, and product design. There are many roles that are used in the Six Sigma Methodology. The roles include:

Champions - Champions are usually members of upper management who are responsible for the implementation of Six Sigma throughout their organization.

Master Black Belts - Champions usually hand pick them to coach others within the organization about the Six Sigma methodologies. They allocate either all or most of their time to the Six Sigma methodologies. It should also be noted that they usually have the responsibility of mentoring lower roles including Black Belts and Green Belts (see below).

Black Belts - Black Belts focus on six sigma execution. They are usually middle managers.

Green Belts - Employees who help Black belts execute specific projects usually take on these roles and other job responsibilities.

TalenTek network of Six Sigma experts is broad with Blackbelts available across business verticals.
